Death Notice (Cape Archives) of his son John says he was born in Gosport to Richard and Susan WHITE
Death Notice (Cape Archives) for another Richard WHITE says he was also the son of Richard and Susannah, born in Gosport, though his baptism has not been found. This fits with Richard saying in his correspondence to the Colonial Office that he had a son serving in the Navy.

By Order of the Court for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, the petition of Richard WHITE, late of Gosport, in the County of Hants, ropemaker, and now a prisoner for debts in the KIng's Bench prison, in the County of Surrey, will be heard in the Guildhall in the City of Westminster on the 28th February inst at the hour of nine in the morning; and that a schedule, containing all the list of the creditors of the said prisoner, annexed to the said petition, is filed in the office of the said Court, No.58 Millbank Street, Westminster, to which any of the creditors may refer: and in case any creditor intends to oppose the discharge of the said prisoner, it is further ordered that such creditor shall give notice in writing of such his intention, to be left at the office of this Court, two days at least before the said 28th day of February.
