W. ROWLANDS, Garment Contriver, Trowsers Maker and General Tailor, Hatter &c, respectfully notifies to his numerous Patrons, Officers of the Garrison and Naval Station, Gentlemen of the Turf, and the Public generally, that after having devoted much time and attention to the wants which fashion should supply, he has invented the above COAT, which is remarkable for ease, ingenuity and elegance, and has only to be worn for its merits to be appreciated. The proprietor desires to intimate that should he meet with encouragement in this, the first attempt ever made to introduce fashions peculiar to ourselves, it is his intention to devote his further energies to the introduction of such novelties in dress as the growing exigencies of the Cape Public most certainly require.

THE REV MR HELM
(Communicated)
On the 22nd March the body of the late Mr. HELM, for many years Missionary of the London Society at the Zuur Braak, in the Swellendam Division, was interred at that Institution. The inhabitants had expressed a strong desire that the mortal remains of their lamented minister might be removed from Pacalta Dorp, where he died exactly a year ago, and be buried in the churchyard of the Institution at which he had so long and so successfully laboured. They offered, at the same time, to bear any expenses consequent upon the removal, so that the relatives could not but give their consent to such a reasonable request, and thereby allow the inhabitants the gratification of manifesting their last token of respect to the man who, under God, had been a blessing to so many of them. The Rev Dr ROBERTSON, of Swellendam, conducted the religious services and took for his text Acts 11 v 24, containing words than which none more appropriate could have been selected to describe the character of the deceased: “For he was a good man and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord”. The church was crowded and at the conclusion of the service the whole assembly, amounting to about 500 persons, followed the funeral procession to the grave, where a very appropriate prayer was offered up by the Rev Mr. PRIETSCH of the Berlin Missionary Society.
