Mr. Benjamin NORDEN Jun begs to inform the inhabitants of Graham's Town that he has commenced business as a General Agent and Collector and trusts by a strict and speedy attention to business to be able to ensure their support. Dissolution of Partnership
The undersigned begs to inform the Public that the Partnership recently existing between him and Robert SCOTT is dissolved by mutual consent. Also that he has removed to the premises lately occupied by Mr. TROTTER on the Market place, and trusts that by strict attention to Business he will receive as great a share of public patronage as hitherto.

The following Epitaph on our late fellow colonist, the lamented Lieut.T.C.WHITE, has recently been forwarded to England to be sculptured on a marble Tablet, for which a very beautiful and chaste design has been furnished by Mr.F. I'ONS of this place:

THOMAS CHARLES WHITE
A Native of Nottinghamshire, England
(Formerly Lieutenant in HM 25th Regiment of Foot)
Major of the Albany Local Volunteers and Acting Deputy Quartermaster General to the Burgher Force; who, after many years of persevering and successful effort, asd an Agriculturalist, to promote the welfare of his fellow Settlers, and improve this the country of his adoption, to which he emigrated in the year 1820, was\slain by Kafirs on 14th May 1835 on the banks of the Bashee River, whither he had marched with a detachment of the British Forces under the command of Col. Smith, CB, to punish the calamitous and unprovoked Irruption of the Kafir tribes into this colony in December 1834. He thus died as he had lived – in the service of his country.

DIED at Port Elizabeth on Sunday 27th August 1837 after a painful and lingering illness, Mr. James HANCOCK, aged 62 years. He was a member of the Wesleyan Society for many years; he died, as he had lived, an ornament to his Christian Profession. His end was Peace.

DIED at Uitenhage on Friday 7th October 1837, Alexander MATHEWSON Esq., Ensign in the late Royal Africa Corps and late of Her Majesty's 54th Regiment, aged 45 years; leaving a Widow and 6 young Children to deplore his loss.

Mr. HART of Glen Avon, near Somerset, being desirous of sinking several Wells on his Farm at Milk River, 4 hours ride on this side and on the high road to Graaf-Reinet; also on his Farm Spitskop, near Somerset, such persons as may be inclined to undertake the above Work are requested to apply to him, stating the Termsper foot deep, through ground, soft Stone, Chingle and Granet. All applications will be attended to. He has for sale about 1000 very superior bastard Wethers and 5 or 600 well bred Ewes, supposed to be in Lamb to very superior Rams of the first cross from imported Saxon and Leister Rams, well worth the attention of those who propose commencing Sheep Breeding. Price £1 : 1 per Ewe

Departed this life on Friday evening, 1st Dec. Mrs. Julia TURVEY, aged 60 years, deeply regretted by her numerous offspring. She was a tender Mother, a faithful Wife and sincere Friend. Her early prospects ill fitted her to combat with an adverse world; but it brought her nearer to her God and enabled her to triumph over Death and the Grave, imparting a happy consolation to her bereaved partner, to whom a union of 32 years only served to increase her affection, and who leaves this testimony of her worth.

OPENING OF BATHURST CHURCH
Notice is hereby given that the new Church at Bathurst being nearly completed will be opened D.V. for the celebration of Public Worship on New Year's Day. Divine Service will be performed in the Morning by Rev.J.HEAVYSIDE and in the Evening by the Rev. J. BARROW, and Collections will be made at the close of each Service in aid of the Funds of the Church. Service to commence in the Morning precisely at 12 o'clock and in the Evening at 7.
