MONSTER PUMPKINS. Mr. W. SOUTHEY has gathered from one of his vines three pumpkins weighing respectively 105, 106 and 130 pounds. The seeds were forwarded to this district by the Hon. R. SOUTHY, and were taken from a pumpkin weighing 180lbs. – Ibid.

Arrival of the “Roman”.
ANNEXATION OF BRITISH KAFFRARIA.
CAPE TOWN, Monday, 10th April, 1865
Roman in 30 days 9 hours. Uitenhage in the docks still repairing. Kaffraria to sail on 9th March. Two new steamers for the Union Line building, 1,600 tons each. The Admirality have resolved upon building a fine line of steamers to bring home the military reliefs from India and elsewhere.

NOTICES
WILD DOGS. We hear that at Van Staden’s Dam a few nights ago, out of a flock of 50 sheep, unavoidably left in the veldt by Mr. ERASMUS, 40 were killed by wild dogs. Mr. Stoffel SCHOEMAN, Zwager’s Hoek, has also suffered from the depredations of these animals, 8 of his lambs having been destroyed by them not long since.

A PROMISING YOUTH. An interesting event has lately taken place in this district; the wife of Mr. Adrian MARAIS, of Roodewal, having presented her liege lord with a fine boy, who has been measured and found to be exactly two feet high!

REPORTED SUICIDE OF ADMIRAL FITZROY.
Passengers by the Eastern Province state that upon their arrival at Madeira they found that a telegram had been received from London, date May 6th, to the effect that Admiral FITZROY had committed suicide.
