Sir

Having a desire to go to the Cape of Good Hope I made application at this office this morning when I was informed by a Gentleman the regular way was to address a line to you, stating what family, age etc. My family consists of myself, wife & 2 female children. My age is 25 by trade cabinet maker, upholster, & my wife's age 25 the elder of my children 3 years & the younger nearly 2 years. Your answer will be considered as a lasting obligation by your obedient servant
