The 15th century Baronial Hall, part of former Chetham's Hospital School, now Chetham's School of Music. Chetham's Hospital was established in 1653 under the will of Humphrey Chetham (1580–1653), for the education of "the sons of honest, industrious and painful parents". The Baronial Hall dates from 1421, when Thomas de la Warre donated his manor house for use as the college of priests' buildings for the Collegiate Church of St.Mary, St.Denys and St.George (now Manchester Cathedral). Members of George SMITH's Party would have been familiar with this building, especially as it is situated in close proximity to the church where many of them got married or baptised their children.
