Sir
Being much interested in the welfare of a very respectable mechanic, a carpenter and builder, who is desirous to avail himself of the prospects held out by his Majestys government for establishing a new colony at the Cape of Good Hope I take the liberty of requesting that you will be pleased to cause me to be favored with such particulars relative to the colony in question as may enable me to take the necessary steps for promoting this young man's views.
I have the honor to be
Sir, your most humble and obedient servant
B. McLAUGHLIN, Surgeon
