pre 1820 Settler Correspondence before emigration

ALL the 1819 correspondence from CO48/41 through CO48/46 has been transcribed whether or not the writers emigrated to the Cape. Those written by people who did become settlers, as listed in "The Settler Handbook" by M.D. Nash (Chameleon Press 1987), are labelled 1820 Settler and the names of actual settlers in the text appear in red.

Sir,

I was duly favored with a Printed Circular dated 5 Aug't in answer to the one I sent on the 31 ultimo.

Sir, I have taken the liberty of listing the names of the families who wish to go out to the Cape of Good Hope to settle. I should have sent in the list before but was prevented by not receivingthe particulars of ages.

On the other sideI have inserted in the particulars of age, their callings and address. - Your kind condesention in answering my last letter will make the deepest impression of gratitude on my mind.
